What Causes Alzheimer's and Acne?

Beijing, Alzheimer's and acne is like the earth and sky. Alzheimer's memory loss is a disease of the brain while acne is a skin problem. But the researchers found a specific cause of acne similar to Alzheimer's.

Special acne cause this is the same as Alzheimer's pimple that grows in the armpits and groin. It is unusual, because acne usually appears on the face.

But a new study finds that the cause of the growth of acne in the armpits and groin can also cause Alzheimer's. The new study of genetic mechanisms, linking the causes of acne inversa with Alzheimer's disease.

Acne inversa is a rare skin disorder that is very similar to the type of acne, but this pimple-like spots appear only in specific areas such as armpits and inner thighs.

"Although Alzheimer's disease and acne inversa appears to be caused by mutations in PSEN1, there has been no reported cases of this disease that both happen simultaneously," said Xue Zhang from Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, as reported by LiveScience, Saturday (10/09/2010 .)

According to Zhang, the researchers were surprised that PSEN1 mutations can also cause acne in the armpit.

Initially, PSEN1 mutations associated with early symptoms of Alzheimer's. This mutation affects a protein called gamma-secretase, a protein involved in the development of plaques in the brains of Alzheimer's.

"With these findings, we hope to find drugs to treat both diseases at once, namely Alzheimer's and the rare acne acne inversa," said Zhang further.

So far, there is no drug to cure Alzheimer's. Drugs that target the gamma-secretase for Alzheimer's patients still in the stage of clinical trials.

Alzheimer's disease can make a person lose his brain memory, this is making it one of the most horror of disease because the sufferers could not remember and do nothing.

While acne is an annoying skin problems that can interfere with self-confidence especially coupled with a stubborn acne scars.
